Last Day in Paris

Wow!

Saturday the 12th., day three-last day in Paris.

The day started late as we had the curtains drawn (really drawn) with no light. 9:15 AM is not our usual time to get up. Breakfast ended at 10:30. We had plans to visit the Louvre and see everything we had not seen before, wander the streets a bit, take a tour boat on the Siene, and maybe have dinner on the Seine.

Wrong. We spent 2 hours in the Louvre (saw the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo), and then went a-walking. Boy, did we walk.

We sauntered along the river from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower, then walked back to the hotel.  There is nothing quite as visual and auditory as walking through Paris and its neighborhoods. Something to see every step of the way. Cars, shops, hundreds of cycles and motorcycles, people of all ethnicities, alleyways, really old buildings well cared for (and some not) and most of it fairly clean.

Back to the hotel at 6:15 (with a big lunch at 4:00 with the usual spotty service) and ready for the trip to Luxembourg, a tour of the city and the American Cemetery (WWII Battle of the Bulge dead), and finally onto the boat. Really looking forward to getting settled in for the cruise down the Moselle.
