We Made It!

The flight over was not too bad but no sleep for either of us. A six hour time difference can be a killer.

The plane was two hours late leaving Dulles due to a 'minor mechanical situation'. We were told to leave gate C14 and go to C4 where a plane was waiting for us. Wrong. The plane had not even landed. Once landed and unloaded, it had to be serviced for the trip. Bummer.

Anyhow, our Viking guide was waiting for us at Charles De Gaulle, the worlds ugliest airport. No problem getting to the hotel.

The Meridian Etoile Hotel in Paris is very nice and located directly across the street from the Congress. The Arc de Triomphe is literally around the corner.

We had lunch in a small restaurant just down the block and then walked our feet off.  It was 'fun' trying to visualize the German Army and Hitler marching down the Champs Elysees when Paris fell.

We bought bread, cheese, wine and chocolate to eat in the hotel room rather than tromp around hoping to find a good restaurant (but we are told there are lots of them around the area.)

Tomorrow we plan on spending a good part of the day in the Louvre. Early to bed tonite.
